I recently added a day hatch to my
Current Designs Cypress fiberglass sea kayak. The kayak already has an 8 inch day hatch behind the cockpit as well as additional hatches fore and aft. However, I mounted an additional 6 inch hatch just forward of the cockpit and use it to store small items that I don't want to bungee to the deck. I also ordered the
6 inch cat bag that fits inside the deck ring. Since the cat bag isn't waterproof, I constructed out of fiberglass glass a small compartment just below the deck to increase watertightness.
