Hello All,
On 6/04/2011, in a light rain, daughter Wendy and I paddled from the
Woodstone Restaurant to the steel plate dam (weir) on
Avila Creek. We launched just under the bridge and paddled upstream perhaps 100 yards, just to make sure that we'd be able to counteract the current if we paddled downstream and then turned to

back. We easily outpaced the current, deciding not to continue further upstream, due to the overgrowth upstream.
It took perhaps ten minutes to

to the dam. Along the way, we spotted several fish. They were probably steelhead trout, about 14 inches long. We peeked over the steel plate dam and then paddled back upstream.
Looking for more paddling time, we made another round trip before loading the kayaks and enjoying a cappuccino and quiche at Woodstones.
NOTE: Since it was drizzling, we were watchful for sudden rises in the water level of the stream. That never happened.
